Attending live theater performances in Asheville is an exciting field study for students and teachers alike! As one of the leading private schools in Asheville, NC, TLC School believes these experiences take learning beyond the classroom and into the vibrant cultural spaces of our community.
In an era when screens dominate entertainment, children need the opportunity to experience in-person performing arts. At TLC School, we believe that live theater for elementary and middle school students plays a vital role in developing creativity, communication skills, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of the arts.
This fall, our students attended a variety of performances, including Donna Washington: A Little Shiver and Cirque Kalabanté: Afrique En Cirque.
The Wortham Center in downtown Asheville has special daytime performances for students. Each class of TLC students will enjoy one to three shows this school year, including Body Traffic and Stunt Boy. Our middle school offers group outings to the Peace Center to various shows each year. This year we went to Kimberly Akimbo in the early fall, and coming up next is The Outsiders and Suffs.
