TUITION | FEES | TRANSPORTATION

When choosing TLC, we recognize that this can be a significant financial commitment for a family. However we also believe that our academic program is exceptional and distinct. We offer payment plans for families as well as limited financial assistance.

The Learning Community Admissions Tuition

Tuition 2023–2024

There is a $1,000 registration fee due with enrollment contract. Tuition (see below) is broken into nine installments between the months of June through February.

  • K/1:  $12,700
  • 2/3:  $13,200
  • 4:  $13,600
  • 5/6/7/8:  $14,300

Note: If multiple children from the same family attend TLC, the oldest child’s tuition is full price, and the tuition of all younger siblings is discounted by 5%.

Tuition payments begin in June for the following school year, and are divided into 9 installments. Lunch bunch, homework and recess club attendance, etc. will be invoiced as an additional amount on a monthly basis.

After School Clubs

ENRICHMENT CLUBS  –  We have several community members that offer after school clubs to enrich your child’s experience at TLC. From athletics to art to Dungeons and Dragons, we have a variety of options. Clubs have an additional fee that varies. 

HOMEWORK/RECESS CLUB  –  If you need after school care for your child, they can participate in the after school homework/recess club. Offering additional academic support on select days, students get time to complete homework and relax with friends. Club ends daily at 4:15 pm in time for the late bus run.

Lunch Bunch

To relieve the hassle of packing lunch, we offer Lunch Bunch on Tuesdays and Fridays with food trucks that come to campus. You can opt for our Lunch Bunch package or you can choose to purchase lunch on a daily basis. 

Extended Care

Family schedules don’t always align with school schedules. If you need extended care, your child can stay supervised at TLC until 5:30 pm for an additional fee. No bus service is available at this time.

Early Bird Care  |  7:35 – 8:10 AM
After Care  |  Monday – Friday until 4:15 PM

Other Fees

From time to time there may be other occasional fees for trips or school events. 

Transportation

We offer full morning and afternoon bus service between downtown Asheville and TLC’s campus. We also offer partial bus service options if you only need transportation help a few days a week. We do have limited bus seats available, but work with families to coordinate carpools if needed.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Opportunity Scholarship applications are available beginning February 1 of each year.

NORTH CAROLINA OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

TLC participates with the North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship program. This is an income/need based scholarship program. We encourage families to apply for this grant program to support your child’s TLC education. 

ASSISTANCE GRANTS

As part of our commitment to make a TLC education available to highly qualified students, we offer limited assistance grants. Families must apply for these grants by December 31 of each year for consideration. If you want to apply for an assistance grant, please contact Holly Baumgartner (holly@thelearningcommunity.org).
