PARENT VOLUNTEERS

The Learning Community Volunteering

Afternoon activities are enriched by the expertise and enthusiasm that parents bring directly into the classroom and leading activities. Gardening, art, physical education, music, swimming, knitting, and cooking are enhanced by the presence of parent volunteers. We are always in need of parents to drive on field studies and to help in the office.

Parents also volunteer their time to activities outside of the classroom. Serving on the Board and committees such as Operations, Financial Aid, Fundraising, and Marketing are other ways for parents to share their gifts.

There are several activities in which we ask for all families to participate. These activities include the spring all-school school musical and our annual move-in and move-out (MIMO) in the fall and late spring. For the musical, parents can volunteer to work the sound booth; construct or paint sets; do hair and makeup; sew costumes; organize and run the snack booth; etc. For each MIMO, we ask that each family take a three-hour shift at some point within a designated week.

Parent volunteerism not only enriches student life at TLC, but allows our school to also function as a unique community. The school thrives on each family’s participation. There are many ways to share your gifts and talents at TLC!
